The purpose of the Civic Association is to foster, protect and promote the welfare of the Washington Square West community. The meetings of the Zoning and Governmental Affairs Committee are an opportunity for residents to express themselves on such matters. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
1301-03 Locust Street
Applicant seeks to erect (1) non-illuminated awning sign and (2) awnings accessory to existing eat-in restaurant.
Zoning Variances Sought: Proposed awning is not permitted in this zoning district (sign projects more than 12” into the right-of-way)
1035-37 Chestnut Street
Applicant is seeking a variance for a takeout restaurant on the first floor in the same building with vacant floors above and for the erection of one (1) accessory flat wall sign. Applicant seeks to open a Taco Bell restaurant with at least 40 seats. The sign is 3' 5" x 23' and is code-compliant.
Zoning Variances Sought: The proposed use, takeout restaurant, is prohibited in the Center City Overlay District
