Apartment burglaries (break‐ins) continue to be a problem in the Washington Sq. West / Midtown Village areas. There have been 6 reported this year. Most involve the door being pried, but one victim did leave the doors unlocked for only 15 minutes while running a quick errand. That's all the time he took to lose a TV and laptop. Please, always use your dead boltlocks, make sure the entry door to the building is shut and locked and report any and all suspicious persons or vehicles to 911 right away. If there are any problems preventing the apartment building doors from being properly secured, please contact the property manager and insist that the problem be corrected immediately. Plainclothes officers are working the area as well as additional uniform patrols. Any resident of the 6th District can arrange for a home security survey by Crime Prevention OfficerBob Savino who can be contacted at 215‐686‐3063 or after business hours at Robert.Savino@Phila.Gov.
