One of the WSWCA's most vital and most popular initiatives is our Sidewalk Cleaning Drive. Each year we solicit grants and donations to pay for every-other-week cleanup on the day after trash day of all sidewalks and gutters in our Wash West neighborhood. We contract with the Center City District for this service, and most of the streets in the neighborhood are covered by this initiative. In the spring and early summer we received generous gifts from the Grundy, Philadelphia and Connelly Foundations, totaling $3,500. Thanks to this, and the sweeping generosity of you, our Wash West Neighbors, we have already extended the contract with CCD through April, 2013. We are now at almost 80% of our goal; we need an additional $7,500 to reach the $35,000 mark to support weekly street cleaning year-round. Your tax-deductible donation will help us reach that goal! DOUBLE YOUR DONATION! All sidewalk cleaning donations will be matched by funds from the WSWCA.
YEARLY CLEANUPS The WSWCA will occasionally arrange for neighborhood cleanup days, which have included paper-shredding, broom loans, street sweeping and corner trash pickup. These efforts are complex and require a great deal of neighborhood participation for success.
